Cycles of Life

July 2008 was very difficult for our family, since we lost 2 of our family members exactly 2 weeks from one another. On June 30, 2009 we lost another and July has started out somber again.

This month's contemplation in focused on the butterfly - which in this instance represents freedom. As usual, I randomly chose a card and this is what came up. Coincidence? I think not.

The butterfly goes through a series of struggles- or cycles- but in the end it's worth it, because the caterpillar it once was is now a beautiful butterfly. We are like the caterpillar, struggling and going through our own cycles, but those cycles aren't the end of who we are. Just when we think we're finished, we transform into something else.

This week's Goddess is Eireen, the Greek Goddess of peace. The Romans call her Pax. Her message is this: Even though things may seem chaotic, all is as it should be. Relax and be grateful for all your blessings, and engage in peaceful activities. (For me, tonight, it includes listening to beautiful music as I write this, and the plan to stretch out any remaining tense muscles with some gentle yoga poses after I post.)

The angel of the week is Alphun. This angel helps when you consciously (or even subconsciously) express a need for peace and spiritual development.

The Celtic message is from Sulis, the goddess of hot-water springs. Sulis is associated with healing, prophecy, and the Underworld. She is also regarded as a calming, civilizing influence and represents science and progress. The keywords for this card are analysis, rationality, and logic. It's important to think before you speak and consider the consequences of your actions at this time.

And the tarot card for the week is the Page of Cups. This card represents inner thoughts and feelings, and creative ideas.

I'm back!

Time has really gotten away from me, since I notice that it's been a month since I last posted. I took a week's vacation and this past week I've just been slowly getting back into the swing of things.

This week's goddess guide is Isis. She is a multi-purpose goddess, so to speak. She can help with past life memories, magic, and alchemy. I do feel there are memories from past lives that affect each of us in different ways, and I believe unexplained or 'irrational' fears, knowledge, etc. are left-over remnants from a past life. If we can learn the lessons these memories bring us, then we can move forward more easily.

The angel of the week is Och, the angel of minerals and alchemy.

The Celtic message is the Oak Tree which represents growth, self-knowledge, self-confidence, and personal development.

The tarot card is the Page of Pentacles which symbolizes practicality, fresh opportunities, and confidence when tackling challenges.

I came across something today that I liked: Today is today; it is not yesterday and it is not tomorrow.

Too often we think about what might have been, or what might be, but in reality today - this moment - is all we have. This is where we are. When we allow ourselves to focus on the past or worry about the future we are doing a disservice to ourselves. In one of the online groups I am a member of, someone brought up the topic of Being Here Now, which I feel is a very important topic. I wonder why it seems to be a rather difficult task to stay in the Now? I have been really trying to keep focused on the Now, bringing my attention back as needed. This requires effort and patience (something else I seem to need to work on in certain areas), but I shall continue to do my best.

Slacking

Sadly I have been, once again, slacking on my weekly posts. No good excuse, really, except both my birthday and wedding anniversary were this past week so I've been rather preoccupied.

Last week's cards were as follows:
Goddess - Butterfly Maiden; she represents transformation.
Angel - there wasn't a particular angel, but rather a ritual to help improve abundance opportunities.
Tarot - page of cups, representing deep inner feelings and emotions.
Celtic message - the Wildwood; representing disorientation, temptation, and excitement.

This week's overview starts with Damara, the goddess whose focus is harmonious homes and guiding children.
The angel card is once again a ritual. This one is for cleansing the mind, body and spirit by invoking Melchisadec.
The Celtic message is called Ear of Corn, representing harvest or accomplishment.
And finally the tarot card is 4 of pentacles; this represents a stable level of material balance, having the proper perspective when managing and guarding one's possessions.

Yesterday I was witness to aggression which has left me feeling very unsettled. I dislike aggression and potentially dangerous behavior, so I think the angelic ritual of cleansing the chakras and mind, body, and spirit is something that I need to do.
